EU Emissions Trading System (ETS)
Pursuant to Article 8 of Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/723, Aeroitalia was allocated 12,291 EU ETS emission allowances free of charge in 2026, corresponding to co-funding of €1,061,942.40, for the use in 2025 of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and other fuels not derived from fossil fuels.
European Union Support
The EU Emissions Trading System supports the use of eligible sustainable aviation fuels by helping aircraft operators cover the additional costs compared with conventional fossil-based aviation fuel.
Aeroitalia's eligible SAF use in 2025 was co-funded by the EU Emissions Trading System, with Aeroitalia receiving €1,061,942.40 in support in 2026.
